The subjunctive is not a time (tense), but an attitude (mood). It expresses subjectivity, uncertainty, emotions, wishes, and hypothetical worlds.
1. Wishes & Demands
Querer que, pedir que, vouloir que, esigere che.
Quiero que estudies.
2. Doubt & Uncertainty
Dudar que, no creer que, douter que, dubitare che.
Dudo que él venga hoy.
3. Mandatory Conjunctions
Para que, antes de que, bien que, a meno che.
Para que tú sepas la verdad.
